KEYNOTE SPEAKER

Professor Michael Fulford

Professor of Archaeology and Leverhulme Senior Research Fellow,University of Reading

 

Michael Fulford is Professor of Archaeology and Leverhulme Senior Research Fellow at the University of Reading. He has also recently served as Dean of the Faculty of Letters and Social Sciences and Pro-Vice-Chancellor of the University (1994-2004). His research interests are focused in the archaeology of the Roman world and his main interests are in economy, material culture, technology and urbanism. He is currently directing a major research excavation on the site of the Iron Age and Roman city of Calleva Atrebatum (Silchester, Hampshire) with support from a number of funding sources including AHRC. The development with the JISC of the VRE has been crucial to the successful progress of the project.
