The first UK e-Science All-Hands Meeting was held in September 2002 in Sheffield. The theme of the meeting was ‘Getting to Know You’ and its goal was to share information on e-Science projects in all disciplines in the UK and to build connections and bridges within the e-Science community. With a typical attendance of between 500 and 600 delegates, the All Hands Meeting is now in its eighth year. You can view archives of past meetings in the Previous AHMs section.
AHM meetings are supported by an EPSRC network grant AHM-Net EP/F063946/1 (2008-2010) which represents the fourth phase of funding of this activity. Previous funding was by EPSRC grants eSTORM GR/S21878/01 (2002-2004), eSTORM2 GR/S78353/01 (2003-2005) and eSTORM3 EP/D054605/1 (2006-2008). The meeting has also benefitted from generous support from JISC.
Governance has evolved over time - originally by Steering and Programme Committees assembled annually, but now by the AHM Foundation which has responsibility for the continuance of the meeting, and by the Programme Committee appointed annually, which determines the theme for that year and the programme.
