Theme 7: Data and Information Management

Led by Neil Chue Hong

Good data is one of the foundations of good research. Advances in technology enable us to store, access and manipulate increasing amounts of information, but issues to do with quality, acquisition, representation, curation, discovery, integration, and visualisation still represent barriers to the use of this knowledge. The theme "Data and Information Management" welcomes submissions addressing these challenges and focussing on the relationship between the information infrastructure and the different users: researchers, application developers and data providers.

The topics of interest for this theme include:

  • Data Acquisition and Automatic Metadata Extraction
  • Data Management and Curation
  • Data Models and Knowledge Representation
  • Data Workflows
  • Data Translation, Normalisation and Integration
  • Metadata, Annotation and Commentary
  • Database Federation and Interoperation
  • Data Integrity and Security
  • Data Mining and Information Extraction
  • Digital Libraries and Repositories
  • Data Indexing and Discovery
  • Digital preservation
  • Data Analysis and Visualisation
  • Storage Clouds
